POTSDAM - Hockey Canada announced recently that Clarkson University womens hockey standouts, junior Jamie Lee Rattray and freshman Erin Ambrose are among the 22 players that have been named to Canadas National Womens Under-22/Development Team for the 2013 Meco Cup, taking place January 2-6, 2013, in Buchloe, Füssen and Ravensburg, Germany.
The Meco Cup, formerly known as the MLP Cup and Air Canada Cup, brings together Canadas National Womens Under-22/Development Team and senior womens national teams from Germany, Finland, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland for a five-day international tournament every year.
Rattray and Ambrose have extensive experience with Canadas National programs, and both have played a leading role in helping the Golden Knights get off to the best start in the Clarkson programs 10-year history.
Clarksons leading scorer, Rattray has accumulated 25 points on 13 goals and 12 assists through the Knights first 14 games. The Kanata, ONT native leads the country in game-winning goals with five. She tallied both game-winners this past weekend as the Knights improved their ECAC Hockey mark to 6-0 with a 4-1 victory at Quinnipiac and a 2-1 overtime triumph at Princeton. The Knights, who are ranked third in the national polls, own a 12-2 overall record.
Division Is top scoring rookie from the blueline, Ambrose is averaging 1.42 points per game. The Keswick, ONT native has recorded 17 points, including 15 goals. Ambrose was named ECAC Hockeys Rookie of the Month for October.
While competing in the 2013 Meco Cup, Rattray and Ambrose will miss the Golden Knights games against nationally-ranked Boston College and Northeastern at Cheel Arena on January 3-4.
