Gouverneur, LaFargeville girls fill Morristown Tournament final

MORRiSTOWN - Gouverneur and LaFargeville will meet in the Morristown Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament finals today at 6 p.m.

Both teams advance with solid impressive wins on Friday as the Wildcats downed Morristown 54-9 and the Red Raiders rolled past Colton-Pierrepont, 44-21.

The consolation game is set for 2:45 p.m.

Gouverneur 54, Morristown 9: Eight players reached the scoring column in the first half where the Wildcats took command early with a 12-1 first quarter and 20-2 second quarter runs.

Rebecca Bulsiewicz scored 13 points including six first half and seven fourth quarter points. Alisha Way and Kirstin Roberts each scored nine while Danielle McCormick logged seven.

Mackenzie Barse scored four points for the Rockets who didn’t field a varsity team last year and are coached by Rich Rupert. Bailey Holmes added three while Macala Roberts scored two. Erica Baldwin, Sam Green, Jordan Tulley, and LiTan Tang all worked hard for Morristown. Carissa Bertrand is currently injuried.

LaFargeville 44, Colton-Pierrepont 21: LaFargeville opened to a 12-4 lead and outscored the Colts 17-7 in the fourth. Lauren Labiendo scored 15 points and Krysti Brow added 12 for the winners.

Morgan Doyle scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Colts. Andrea Aldous added five points, seven boards and five steals while Haylee Hennessy chipped in two points and seven boards.

Canton 46, Tupper Lake 26: Emily Rexford scored 14 points, Kali Frank logged 10 and Tori Dailey chipped in nine points leading the Bears who led 22-10 at halftime in Tupper Lake.

Katie Stuart paced Tupper Lake with nine.
