CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE - CANTON - Christopher J. Barney, 34, of 171 Cook Street Road, Massena, was charged by state police Saturday with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a weapon.

Mr. Barney was stopped for speeding, illegal window tint and an expired inspection sticker while driving in Canton. Troopers allegedly found an illegal wooden billy club and Suboxone, an opiate.

He is scheduled to appear in Canton Town Court.
