MADRID - Madrid-Waddington moved to 3-0 on the season and 1-0 start in the NAC North Division with a solid 38-29 win over Brushton-Moira on Tuesday.
The Jackets received balance scoring throughout the line-up as Tess Knight tallied 12 points and seven steals, Olivia Parmeter logged 11 points and Katie Marcellus chipped in eight points and nine rebounds. Desi Pryce added five for the winners who sealed the win with a 16-5 third to take a 31-21 lead. Jenn King added two and Taylor Lenney posted five steals.
Haylea Gary generated six points for B-M. Sienna Kenny added five.
In the other NOrth Division games played on Tuesday, Tupper Lake beat Norwood-Norfolk 37-24 while the lone East Division contest saw Colton-Pierrepont stop St. Regis Falls 39-22.
Tupper Lake 37, N-N 24: In Tupper Lake, the Lumberjacks worked their way to a 12-1 lead in the first quarter and led 33-14 heading into the fourth before turning back the Lady Flyers.
Carlea Weaver and Katie Ames anchored the N-N scoring with eight points each. Cadence Hunkins and Wellings each added four.
Katie Stuart led the winning effort with 23 points, seven rebounds and five steals.
C-P 39, SRF 22: Morgan Doyle poured in 20 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, clollected three steals and two assists leading the Colts to a 14-7 halftime lead. Kylie McKinley chipped in eight points, nine rebounds, seven steals and one assist while Andrea Aldous added six points, eight boards, five steals and one assist as the Colts sealed the win with a 17-7 fourth. Hailey Hennessy added three and Autumn Clark added two,
Kiana Stowell paced St. Regis Falls with seven. Brittany Rondeau added five.
In the lone NAC North Division varsity boys basketball action on Tuesday, Tupper Lake netted a 69-45 North Division win at home over Norwood-Norfolk.
Brandon Sawyer led a balanced Flyer effort with 12 points. Dan Devine and Kyle Martens added 10 points apiece.
Mitch Keniston powered the Tupper Lake offense with a 30-point night.
