POTSDAM — The board of directors of the St. Lawrence County Arts Council has hired Rebekah Wilkins-Pepiton as executive director.

Ms. Wilkins-Pepiton moved to the north country with her husband, Charles Pepiton, during the summer after serving with the Peace Corps in China for two years. She previously taught high school visual art in Colorado, where she developed Pagosa Springs’s Fine Arts Magnet Academy.

Ms. Wilkins-Pepiton holds a master’s degree in art education from the University of Idaho and completed her bachelor of arts in photography at Wayland Baptist University.

“Northern New York is fortunate to have her there — she is very talented,” said Danny D. Andrews, director of alumni development at Wayland Baptist University, Plainview, Texas.

Ms. Wilkins-Pepiton works in a variety of mediums: printmaking, photography, mixed media and graphic design. Her woodcut prints are a part of the Great BIG smalls VIII exhibit now on display at Ottawa’s Cube Gallery.

Ms. Wilkins-Pepiton will begin working at the St. Lawrence County Arts Council this month and take the role of executive director in January.
