ITHACA - The Massena Central girls hockey team bounced back from a tough loss to Skaneateles on Thursday by posting a 4-2 High School League win over Ithaca at Cornells Lynah Rink on Friday.
Now 4-3, the Lady Raiders wrap up their three-day Central New York road trip today when they go up against Oswego at the community rink starting at 10 a.m.
Ithaca struck first in Fridays game when Marlena Doerr finished off a play set up by Clara Karastury just 1:52 after the opening face-off. The Lady Raiders countered with the next two goals as Carlie Leary tied the game at the 7:56 mark assisted by Katie MacCuaig and Raechel Davis the Emily Wilmshurst converted from Ellen Green at 11:09. The Little Red knotted the game at 2-2 just 30 seconds later on a goal by Karastury that was set up by Anastasia Lyon.
Massena regained the lead for good just 1:03 into the middle frame when MacCuaig scored from Chelsea Streeter and Mackenzie Young. David sealed the win with an unassisted goal at 11:03 of the third.
Maddi Dillabough had 26 saves backstopping the win while Alex Stagliano handled 15 shots in the losing cause.
