MADRID - Tessa Knight made her only points of the game count and when Madrid-Waddington needed them the most. Knight, after St. Lawrence Central missed an one-and-one situation with nine seconds up 41-40, went coast to coast to score the gamewinning basket in a 42-41 win in the lone NAC North Division match-up Wednesday.
Jen King generated 12 points and handed out four assists for M-W. Olivia Parmeter added 11 points while Katie Marcellus chipped in nine points and nine boards. Knight chipped in three steals while Desi Pryce scored six and Taylor Lenney added two with Knight.
Lindsey Thayer produced 17 points and 16 rebounds for St. Lawrence. Breanna Vatter added 11 points. Caitlin Grow tallied seven points along with a game high 21 rebounds and six blocks. Sam Richards added four and Noele Rufa chipped in two. Jenna Kesner provided seven assists.
The only other NAC girls basketball action on Wednesday saw Tupper Lake roll past St. Regis Falls while a pair of interdivisional boys basketball encounters had St. Regis Falls outscoring Tupper Lake 68-36 and Chateaugay take on Brushton-Moira.
SRF 68, Tupper Lake 36: The Saints took a 19-10 lead at Tupper Lake in the first quarter and expanded a 32-20 halftime lead with a 22-8 third quarter run. Caleb Green scored 24 points for the Saints. Corey LaBounty, Brandon Votra and Louie Goodrow all scored 10.
Mitch Keniston scored 10 points for Tupper Lake. Brock Tarbox, Anson Gagnier and Corey LaPierre each added six.
