Leaders of Northern Tier Transportation Group have written state Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine about their displeasure with the state Farm Bureau’s change of support from a rooftop highway to upgrades of Route 11.

“The larger agricultural production and processing community in Northern New York remains committed to the I-98 corridor development project including farm bureaus, soil and water conservation districts, processing facilities, large and small farmers and the New York State Agricultural Development Board,” according to the letter from Chairman Wade A. Davis and Jason A. Clark, organizational executive. “The McCadam cheese plant in Chateaugay, an employer of nearly 100 people and a processing repository of milk for scores of farms from throughout the north country, remains one of the most steadfast in terms of their continued support.”
