SARANAC LAKE - The Massena Central girls hockey team held on for a 2-1 decision on the road over Saranac Lake on Monday night.
After a scoreless first period, eighth-grader Katie MacQuaid continued her impressive rookie season with an unassisted goal to give the Lady Raiders the lead at 11:55 of the middle frame.
Bailey Dillabough finished off a two-on-one break with KC Herne at 8:40 of the third period to make it 2-0. Abbie Paquin also drew an assist on the eventual game-winner.
The Red Storm pulled to within one with 1:24 left in regulation when Maggie Darrah connected off an assist from Kennedy Snyder.
Eighth-grader Kyrsten Stone turned aside 26 of the shots she faced backstopping the win while Sierra Nye logged 22 saves working the Saranac Lake crease.
Massena improved to 11-4 overall and will look to continue its best season in the six-year history of the program on Wednesday against Alexandria at the Clayton Arena starting at 7 p.m.
