Dorris Murdock

Dorris Nell “Ma” Murdock, 87, of Grottoes, passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013 at her home.

Mrs. Murdock was born in St. Lawrence County and was the daughter of the late Ceylon Otis and Daisy (Crawford) Stiles. Dorris lived most of her life at home on Kendrew Road, Rensselaer Falls, New York. She later moved to Virginia in 2006.

Ms. Murdock graduated from Rensselaer Falls High School as Salutatorian of her class in 1943. She went on to serve our country in the U.S. Army, during WWII, as a Medical Technician. On September 21, 1946 she married Robert H. Murdock, who preceded her in death. Following her military service, she worked in the laboratory at St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center and later Hepburn Hospital, in Ogdensburg, NY. She retired in 1977. Dorris also helped with the family dairy farms. She loved gardening and spending time with friends and family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances (Stiles) Perkins and a brother, John Stiles.

Dorris is survived by a son, Jeffrey Murdock and wife, Margaret of Huntington Beach, CA; one daughter, Janice (Murdock) Honaker and husband, Charles of Grottoes; four grandsons, Robert Montville of VA, David Murdock, Matthew Murdock, both of CA, Chad Honaker of VA; and several family members including several nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters in-laws.
