HOGANSBURG – Lawrence Michael Larry Garrow, 39, 148 St. Regis Road, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013, at his home unexpectedly.
Larry was born on April 19, 1973 in Cornwall, Ontario, the son of Sam J. Oakes Jr. and Carol Garrow. He attended Salmon River Central School. He was an avid Yankee fan, and liked trivia, reading and listening to music. When he requested songs on the radio with Teddy Peters, he was known as Hey Man. He was known to his close friends as Shark. He was raised by his grandparents, Leonard and Isabel Garrow. He enjoyed helping his grandfather keep the woodstove going in the garage. Larry once worked at the Mohawk Bingo Palace and for Thomas Steel Erectors.
Larry is survived by his mother and father; and his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Isabel Garrow; his uncle and aunt Dan and Belva Garrow, of Snye, QC; his nieces and nephews and several cousins. Larry will be missed by the family pets Pebbles and Liz Taylor.
He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Sam and Audrey Oakes, Sr.; and his uncle Jeffery Oakes, his aunt Susan Hemlock and his cousin Kevin Hemlock.
Friends may call Monday, starting at 4 PM until Wednesday at 10 AM, at Kateri Hall, Hogansburg. Funeral service will be Wednesday, at 11 AM at the St. Regis Catholic Church, with Rev. Jerome Pastores, officiating. Cremation will follow.
