HERMON St. Lawrence County sheriffs deputies have charged a Hermon volunteer fire chief and his firefighter brother with stealing copper and other items from town-owned property.
Christopher R. Stransky, 35, of 105 Jefferson St., and John D. Stransky, 32, of 102 Miles Road, both were charged Wednesday with third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony.
Deputies said the brothers stole more than $3,000 worth of items, including copper pipe, radiant heaters and a commercial garage door opener.
They were arraigned and released on their own recognizance pending a court appearance.
