■ MADRID — Madrid-Waddington junior-senior high school students will be dismissed at noon and elementary school pupils at 1 p.m. Friday for staff development. Lunch will be served as regularly scheduled.

■ MARTINSBURG — The Town Council has switched its next regular meeting from Feb. 20 to 7 p.m. Feb. 27 in the town office on Cemetery Road to let the supervisor and clerk attend a training session. It also will conduct a special meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday to pay bills and handle routine business.

■ FORT DRUM — All of the deployed soldiers of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team have arrived in Afghanistan and will be at their posts by the middle of the month, the brigade commander, Col. Dennis S. Sullivan, stated. About 1,500 soldiers will spend nine months helping Afghan security forces.
