Ogdensburg police Monday arrested three people for untaxed cigarettes and drug charges.
Arrested following a search warrant execution at 443 Belmont Courts at 11:15 a.m. were:
Robert D. Leeson, 31, of 443 Belmont Courts, charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony unlawful possession of untaxed cigarettes, misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal tax fraud, misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal conspiracy and felony first-degree criminal nuisance.
Ibrahim M. Abdulghani, 41, of 351 Belmont Courts, misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal tax fraud, felony unlawful possession of untaxed cigarettes and misdemeanor fifth-degree criminal conspiracy.
Heather M. Leeson (Mr. Leesons wife), 31, felony unlawful possession of untaxed cigarettes.
In a separate arrest at the Belmont Courts address, Melinda S. Geddes, 26, of 920 Washington St., was arrested on a probation violation.
Detective Daniel C. Mousaw said that three defendants were in possession of 10,080 individual, untaxed cigarettes. Detective Robert H. Wescott said there were 504 packs of cigarettes, each with an excise tax of $4.35 for a total of $2,192.40.
The controlled substance was identified as Suboxone, a painkiller. Mr. Wescott said police found 63 pills of the drug and that there was intent to sell. The street value, he said, was $30 per pill or a total of $1,890.
Mrs. Leeson was released on a city court appearance ticket. The others were held in the city lockup and are due in court this morning. Police were assisted their narcotics enforcement unit and the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force.
