State hockey schedule changes announced; Paquin’s goalie stats corrected

LATHAM – The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has announced schedule changes for the 2013 NYSPHSAA Ice Hockey State Tournament at Utica Memorial Auditorium (Section III) on March 9-10.

Due to the potential of Utica College’s hockey team playing a home game Saturday night, March 9 at the Aud, the Association has adjusted all of its state semifinal games.

Saturday’s Division II semi-finals are now slated for 10 a.m. and noon and the Division I semi-finals at 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. On Sunday, the Division II championship game faces off at 12:30 p.m. followed by the Division I final at 3:45 p.m.

In an article featured in the sports section of the February 28th edition of the Daily Courier Observer, the statistics for Massena Central junior netminder Connor Paquin, who has backstopped the Raiders to consecutive Section 10 titles, were inaccurate.

The mainstay between the pipes for Massena again this winter, Paquin has amassed a .930 save percentage and 1.32 goals against average in 19 games. Following the win over Potsdam in the Section 10 final last Sunday, he was presented the WMSA Divsion I Goalie of the Year Award.

The Raiders will be hosting Monroe Woodbury of Section 9 in the first round of the New York State Division I tournament at the Massena Arena this Saturday starting at 7 p.m.

The sports staff apologizes for the error.
