Charles Bartlett Travis III M.D. passed away in Largo, Florida in the loving presence of his daughter Patricia and friend Walter X. Price on 28 February 2012. He was born in Ogdensburg, New York on 14 May 1938. He received a BA in Romance Languages from Hamilton College; a BS in Chemistry from St. Lawrence University and an MD from the University of Bologna. Charles completed his family practice residency at the Medical College of Ohio (MCO) in 1980, and entered into practice with Dr. Herman Reese from 1981 to 1990. He then taught and practiced family medicine at MCO where he retired as an Associate Professor of Medicine in 2005. He was predeceased in death by his parents Myrtle Demo Travis and Charles Bartlett Travis II. He is survived by Kathleen Glavin Travis, and his seven children, Charles (Éadaoin), Michael (Colleen), Theresa (Robert), Patricia, Benjamin (Carolina), Susanna and Anthony, as well as his grandchildren Galean, Maya Rain, Ambiana, Jacobi and Senan. He is also survived by his sister Julie Whalen (John) and brother Richard Travis (Elaine). Charles was active in the Toledo Ski Club, the Jolly Roger Yacht Club, and the Corpus Christi Parish. After his retirement Charles pursued his love of language and culture by studying French and German. A memorial mass to honor and celebrate his life will be held 1:30 pm Saturday, March 9 at Corpus Christi University Parish. In lieu of flowers, donations can be offered to The Cherry Street Mission.
