MASSENA – The Ponderosa Steakhouse in Massena has announced plans to host a benefit for the children of employee Carol Ann Pelkey.

Ms. Pelkey’s three children, Brittany, 19, Scott, 17, and Brianna, 10, were injured in February when they waiting in front of their home for the school bus and were struck by a vehicle operated by a school mate that lost control of his vehicle on slick, snow covered roads.

The Ponderosa located at state Route 37 and South Main Street in Massena will donate proceeds from all beverage sales on March 23-24 to help with the Pelkey family’s mounting medical bills.

“Our heart goes out to Carol Ann and her children,” Thomas A. Sacco, president and chief executive officer of Homestyle Dining. “When our manager, Michelle Dillabough told us about this tragedy, we knew we needed to help because nothing is more important to us than family, and the Pelkeys are part of the Ponderosa family.”

The Massena Ponderosa Steakhouse is celebrating its 35th Anniversary and is planning additional events to celebrate the milestone in addition to the Pelkey fundraiser.
