A memorial service for 77 year old Nancy E. Smith Blodgett of Canton will be held Wednesday, March 13th at noon at Grace Episcopal Church in Canton, with Mother Evette Austin officiating. A spring burial will be in the Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam. If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department.

A daughter Mrs. Thomson (Athena) Tembo, a son Stuart Blodgett, two brothers Marshall Smith, and Dale Smith; four grandsons Nathan Jones, Travis Bower, Benjamin Blodgett and Stephen Blodgett survive Nancy. Nancy was pre-deceased by two infant sons Brian D. and Daniel P. Blodgett.

Nancy was born in Potsdam, NY October 10, 1935 the daughter of Howard H. and Clara (Richardson) Smith. She was a 1953 graduate of Potsdam High School. She was married to David N. Blodgett in Potsdam, NY on June 4, 1955. The marriage ended in divorce. For 28 years she was employed as a medical technician, last working at Claxton Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg. She later became the Town of Canton Assessor and served in this capacity for 20 years, retiring January 1, 2002.
