POTSDAM - Residents of the Potsdam Central School District are invited to the districts second community forum to be held at 7 p.m. tonight in the cafeteria at the AA Kingston Middle School.
Superintendent Patrick H. Brady said tonights event will be similiar to last months forum, but the presentation portion will be a little bit longer.
At the last community forum we asked the participants to provide us with ideas they would like to discuss at the next community forum, he said. It was clear that they wanted more information and data in regards to employee beneftis, athletics and extracurriculars, transportation, class sizes, our reserves and fund balance, and possible cuts in the 2013-2014 budget.
Mr. Brady said the evening will open with a presentation containing the requested information.
Were going to spend part of our time discussing those specific areas, he said. We will also provide infromation to them about shared services and school consolidation.
Participants will then be broken into small groups for a more intimate discussion.
Mr. Brady said the exact details surrounding the topics for group discusssions are still being finalized, but he said they would likely center around the districts financial situation and long-term and short-term options to meet students needs.
While the district held three such forums last year, this year theyre only holding two. Thirty-six members of the community attended the first forum held last month.
Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the presentation begining promptly at 7 p.m.
