Funeral Services for Carolyn H. Langtry, age 71 of Brier Hill will be held 11:00am on Monday (March 18, 2013) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Pastor David Sheppard officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Ingham Cemetery in Brier Hill.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00-6:00pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Langtry passed away on Wednesday morning (March 13, 2013) at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Surviving are her three daughters & their husbands, Sharon & John Vashaw of Fulton, Sara & Christopher Henry of Redwood, Sandra & Matthew Duprey of Ogdensburg; a brother Douglas Hunneyman & his wife Dritha of Camillus, two sisters Louine Hauck & her husband William of Hammond, Elaine Gascon & her husband Kimble Wood of Charlotte Town, PEI; four grandchildren Austin & Carter Vashaw, Jackson & Quinn Duprey along with many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

Carolyn was born on December 25, 1941 in Theresa, NY a daughter of Merrill & Fannie (Zimmer) Hunneyman. She graduated from Hammond Central School in 1959 and continued her education at Potsdam State where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Education in 1963. She married John S. “Butch” Langtry on Nov 24, 1961, he predeceased her in 2007.

She began her teaching career in 1963 first employed with the Ogdensburg City School District and then transferred to Morristown Central School. In 1976 she left full time employment to raise her family and operate Langbrook Farms & JSL Gravel with her husband. She remained active in education for many years substitute teaching until her retirement in 2000.

Carolyn was a 50 year member of the Brier Hill Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and took great pride in gardening and preserving her harvest to share with others. Carolyn also enjoyed baking and spending time with her children & grandchildren.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Brier Hill or Morristown Volunteer Fire Departments or Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley or the The Langtry Women Teaching Scholarship Fund @ Morristown Central School.
