MASSENA - A website has been established to help raise money for Michelle Cook, a boxer from Massena on the verge of qualifying for USA Boxing’s national team.

The page, which has been set up on the site gofundme.com, allows people to make donations with their debit or credit cards.

In order to participate in the tournament, which will be held in Spokane, Wash. starting later this month, Ms. Cook must raise $5,000 to cover transportation and lodging costs for the week.

She qualified for the tournament after winning USA Boxing’s Northeast Regional Tournament in February. At that tournament, which was held in Lake Placid, she was also named most outstanding boxer, an award only given to one of the tournament’s fighter, male or female, regardless of weight class.
