Harper, Converse and Wheeler lead Parishville-Hopkinton Class of 2013


PARISHVILLE - Parishville-Hopkinton Central School has announced Dana Harper has been named valedictorian and Jenna Converse and Shauna Wheeler are the salutatorians of the graduating Class of 2013.

Ms. Harper is the daughter of Dale and Robin Harper of West Parishville Road, Parishville. She began school at Parishville-Hopkinton Central School just before her fourth birthday, and will be leaving PHCS with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors, a seven semester GPA of 95.73, and will graduate with majors in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, and Visual Arts.

Dana has been an active participant in the National Honor Society, Student Council, and Foreign Language Club at PHCS. She has also been an active volunteer at Northern New York’s Special Olympics, participated in four PHCS Follies’ productions, and has participated in St. Lawrence University’s Pi Mu Epsilon Math Competition during her sophomore and junior years. In addition, during her junior year, Dana successfully completed a course in Music and American History since the Jazz Age through St. Lawrence University’s Scholars Enrichment Program.

Dana has been accepted to SUNY Oswego and plans to enroll for the fall semester. She also received SUNY Oswego’s Presidential Scholarship and has been accepted into their Honors Program. She plans to graduate from SUNY Oswego with a science major.

Ms. Converse is the daughter of Cindy and William Converse and sister to Shelby and Megan Converse of Hopkinton. She has attended Parishville-Hopkinton since kindergarten. Jenna has earned a seven semester average of 94.5 and will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors. She has fulfilled the requirements for PHCS majors in Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, English, and Spanish.

Jenna has actively participated in Student Council, National Honor Society, Foreign Language, Mock Trial, Yearbook, Band, Backyard Geology Club, and Project Challenge. She has also played on the soccer, basketball, and softball teams since seventh grade and made the Second Team All Northern for soccer.

Jenna has been accepted at Paul Smith’s where she plans to pursue a major in business.

Ms.Wheeler is the daughter of Pamela Wheeler of Catherine Street, Parishville. Shauna has attended Parishville-Hopkinton Central School since kindergarten and is graduating a year early. She will receive an Advanced Regents Diploma with Honors and has local majors in Mathematics, Science, Spanish, Social Studies, and English.

Shauna has participated in many diverse activities including Student Council, Special Olympics, Church Youth Group, Relay for Life, National Honor Society, Musical Follies, and Foreign Language Club. In addition, Shauna has been an active volunteer at Vacation Bible Study.

Shauna has been accepted to Utica, Nazareth, and Sage Colleges and plans to pursue a degree in a health care field..
