POTSDAM - SUNY Potsdam recently finalized a transfer articulation agreement with North Country Community College, making it easier for Northern New York students to complete degrees and take advantage of the best both campuses have to offer.

In keeping with the State University of New York’s seamless transfer initiatives, SUNY Potsdam is working on agreements with neighboring campuses where most of its transfer students come from. North Country Community College, which has campuses in Saranac Lake, Malone and Ticonderoga, is the only SUNY institution in the Adirondack Park.

“This agreement is an excellent advising tool for faculty at North Country Community College to work with students who intend to transfer to SUNY Potsdam. It provides students with the resources needed to select appropriate major courses during their enrollment at the community college,” said Director of Academic Transfer Services Susan Manfred. “This allows for seamless transferability and the opportunity to graduate from SUNY Potsdam with a baccalaureate degree in a timely manner.”

The campus-to-campus agreement between Potsdam and NCCC details compliance under the SUNY general education policy. NCCC students who transfer to Potsdam with an associate degree, having completed 30 semester hours of general education, including 7 out of 10 required courses, will be ready to start work on their major without having to take additional classes.

SUNY Potsdam has course equivalency tables for SUNY community colleges, colleges of technology, CUNY community colleges and more on its website, to make the transfer process easier. In addition, Potsdam’s advising guide for NCCC is designed to assist students and their advisors.

More than 400 students transfer into SUNY Potsdam each year. To learn more, visit www.potsdam.edu/admissions/transfer.
