Potsdam golfers outshoot FA, Massena falls to OFA

MALONE - Putting together one of its best group efforts of the season, the Potsdam Central golf team came away from the Malone Golf Club having claimed a 216-218 decision over NAC Division I rival Franklin Academy on Friday.

Five of the six Sandstoners carded rounds in the 40’s led by Konnor Bigwarfe with a 40, including a birdie on the fifth hole, on the par 35 front nine of the East Course. Aidon Clouthier contributed a 41 toward the Potsdam cause followed by Dan Stone with a 43, Dan Cruikshank with a 44 and Marc McAdoo with a 48. Ryan McDonald finished with a non-scoring 51.

Evan Hanna fired an even-par 35 in the losing effort. Elliot Vanier was also solid for the Huskies, shooting a 42 while Dylan Fleury and Davis Sprague followed with a 45 and 47, respectively.

The Sandstoners, 4-3 in the NAC and 5-3 overall, are slated to play against OFA at the St. Lawrence State Park Course next Wednesday.

OFA, 203, Massena 215: In the other NAC golf matchup on Friday, Massena dropped a 203-215 decision to OFA at the Massena Country Club.

Playing the back nine, Hunter Francis anchored the Raider effort with a 37 that included a birdie on the 14th hole. Tyler Bradford posted a 41 in the losing cause followed by Kendrick Swamp, with a 44, Tyler Sunday with a 46 and Brendon Dobbins with a 47. Mark Bender carded a non-scoring 51.

The duo of Conor Hannan (birdie on 14) and Brandon Mullin (birdie on 13) shared medalist honors for the undefeated Blue Devils with rounds of 37. Alec Manke shot a 41 playing in the sixth pairing followed by Tristan Moore with a 43, Dillon Binion with a 45 and Jed McRoberts with a non-scoring 46.

The Raiders are slated to play in Malone on Monday.
