Sequim, Washington– Gerald (Jerry) P. Nelson, 82, of Sequim, Washington, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at home and surrounded by his family. Jerry was born on October 21, 1930 in Fairmont, MN. He graduated from high school in Emmetsburg, IA and entered the Navy in 1948 after graduation. Following discharge in 1952, he enrolled at Colorado School of Mines. He graduated in 1956 and started work for ALCOA in Massena, NY.

In Massena he met and married Meredith Ann Beckstead.The couple had four children while living in Massena. Later in 1968 the family was transferred to Pittsburg, PA, then to West Covina, CA and finally to Vancouver, WA. After retiring they moved to Sequim, WA in 1999.

His wife Meredith preceded him in death in September, 2011. He is survived by three daughters, Cynthia (Randy) Blank, Valerie (Graeson) Parsons, Stephanie (Dave) Mantey and son, David (Tracy) Nelson. Also surviving are his nine grandchildren: Dana (Ben) Lamb, Mallorie Nelson, Lorna Mantey, Kyle Blank, Makenzie Parsons, Spencer Nelson, Erin Blank, Grant Parsons and Sarah Mantey. In addition he is survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be made to Alzheimer’s Association, Cancer research or Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County.
