POTSDAM - Administrators in the Potsdam Central School District have new contracts.
The Potsdam Central School District Board of Education unanimously approved a three-year pact with the districts administrative unit, which includes its three principals as well as the chair of the committee on special education.
Superintendent Patrick H. Brady, whose contract was also renewed, said the deal was made retroactive to July 1, 2013 and will last through June 30, 2016.
Mr. Brady said the contract calls for the administrators to receive raises of 3 percent, 2.5 percent and 2.25 percent during each year of the deal.
He also noted that both he and the other administrators are switching health insurance plans to a plan known as Rider 9. That plan, which comes with higher co-pays, also brings has 13 percent lower premiums bringing the district significant monetary savings.
With the administrators alone, Mr. Brady said savings from the switch total more than $29,000.
While Mr. Brady, who is also receiving a 3 percent raise, will see his contribution remain the same at 10 percent, the other administrators will see their contributions drop from 11 percent to 10 percent.
Its critical that we receive some savings in health insurance, and we see this as the best opportunity to receive those savings, he said. The 11 percent contribution by our administrators was the highest in the region.
Mr. Brady also noted that he and the other administrators are the first ones in the area to switch to the new insurance plan.
Board of education member Wade A. Davis said the new contracts were well deserved.
Thank you for another good year, he said. The amount of work you and your team do is amazing. Youll never see it in the paper, but congratulations on a good job,
With the raises incorporated in the new contract, Mr. Brady will receive a salary of $132,640 in the 2013-2014 fiscal year. Salaries for the 2013-2014 year will be $91,417 for Joanne Chambers, $85,119 for Larry B. Jenne and $76,735 for CSE Chair Jennifer Neaton. Newly hired middle school Principal Mark Bennett will receive a salary of $78,000.
