MASSENA - A Potsdam woman denied allegations that she had sexual contact with a 13-year-old female when she was questioned by Massena Village Police.

Village police charged Joedi L. Foster, 20, of 169 Sylvan Falls Road, Potsdam, with second-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child at 12:02 p.m. Wednesday. The charge stemmed from allegation she had sexual contact with a 13-year-old female on the weekend of May 25-26.

Foster was released on an appearance ticket and is due in village court on Aug. 6.

“ ... was texting me in a sexual way, and I did respond back in a sexual way at first, but stopped because I knew she was too young. At one time, ... wanted to have a sexual relationship with me and started kissing me but I made her stop because of her age. I had no other sexual contact with ...,” Foster said in the statement she signed for police.

The teenager provided police with a dramatically different picture of her relationship with Foster. She said at one point several weeks ago she had been riding around in a vehicle with Foster and another female when the two older girls were smoking pot with the windows rolled up. She said approximately a week or two later Foster asked her to be a girlfriend. The teenager said she thought Foster was using her to get back at another female.

“Jodi started kissing me on my mouth,” she said, noting the older woman also rubbed her inappropriately during the encounter. “I wanted her to stop, but I was afraid (she) was going to beat me up. At the time, I thought she was 14 years old. I now know she is 20,” the teenager told police.

Foster, in the statement she signed for police, also denied smoking pot or drinking in the presence of the teenager.

It marks Foster’s third arrest this summer. She was charged with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child on June 9 in the town of Parishville and with endangering the welfare of a child on June 24.
