MASSENA - Massena Memorial Hospital again benefits from the continued generosity of Robert and Cynthia Elsner. Over the years, the couple has supported many fundraising efforts and programs of the MMH Foundation for the benefit of patients, providers, and staff of Massena Memorial Hospital.
Most recently, the Elsners contributed more than $17,400 for an upgrade to one of the iU22 ultrasound units located in Medical Imaging. The upgrade includes the software and medical equipment necessary to perform adult echocardiograms (specialized imaging of the heart and surrounding structures) and expands the departments capacity to provide this diagnostic service.
The Elsners first contributed in 2006 when Bob and Cindy established the Employee Education Grant offering financial assistance to employees of Massena Memorial seeking advanced training or education. The Elsners believe in the importance of furthering education to better ones self. I hope those that were lucky enough to receive the assistance they provided appreciate the help but also pay it forward one day, noted Julia Rose, MMH Foundation executive director.
The Employee Education Grant fund has assisted 17 employees of MMH with costs associated with advanced training in the areas of medical imaging, central sterile supply, nursing, health information systems, dialysis, medical records, med-surg, patient accounts, nutrition, respiratory therapy, and infection control from over a six year period.
The Elsners are dedicated Ben Franklin Club members and support both of the MMH Foundations major events. Bob and Cindy have always been willing to lend a helping hand, whether its keeping bids straight at the radiothon or sponsoring hospital employee golf teams for the golf tournament. Each and every year they step up to help out in one way or another. They are truly amazing people. according to Julianne Fowler, MMH Foundation event coordinator.
Massena Memorial Chief Executive Officer Charles Fahd added, Bob and Cindy Elsner are extremely generous people. They have cared greatly about the hospital community for many years. They have not only donated their special gifts of time to the many hospital and foundation events throughout the years, but they dug deep into their personal financial resources to fulfill the many projects they have initiated. Their kindness and dedication to the hospital and its foundation does not go unnoticed.
