LISBON - Lisbon Beach and Campground Director Michael J. ONeil said the town council went back on its word when it authorized the purchase of an online registration system for the campground.
At [the August] meeting they said they were going to leave things the way they were for another year, Mr. ONeil said.
The town board was presented with a petition in August signed by 316 people saying they were opposed to the installation of an automated, online registration system at the campground.
If Im running a campground, I need to be hands on with the people, Mr. ONeil said.
Mr. ONeil currently uses a hardcopy of registrations that he keeps in a binder. As for online registrations, Mr. ONeil said, I dont believe in it.
Town Councilor Susan M. Duffy said, We were never going to put it off for a year.
Ms. Duffy said she has talked with Mr. ONeil about the software for almost a year now, including sending him emails with information detailing the exact product under consideration, and that he has never been against it in their discussions.
Mr. ONeil said he has never been okay with it.
In addition, Mr. ONeil said he has never seen any emails about the new software, called Campground Master. Ive never seen any emails from [Ms. Duffy].
They havent even discussed it with me as far as what the program is going to be, Mr. ONeil said of the town council. Theyre just going to up and do whatever they please anyway.
Ms. Duffy said the campground needs to be modernized. Its the boards decision, she said. Were looking to bring the beach into the 21st century; thats the bottom line.
