Potsdam Walmart donates $1,500 to CPH Foundation

POTSDAM - The Potsdam Walmart SuperCenter recently donated $1,500 to the Canton-Potsdam Hospital Foundation.

Their grant will be used to purchase nutrition education materials for the hospital’s cardiac and pulmonary-rehabilitation patients. This is the sixth consecutive year that Walmart has contributed to the hospital.

The cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation program provides individualized fitness programs for more than 100 patients annually. Participants are carefully monitored in a safe and patient-friendly setting. Patients typically attend the program two days per week, for about three months. Some patients continue to attend on their own after officially “graduating” from the program.

According to CPH Exercise Specialist Krystle Burgoyne, an important component of the program is helping the participants to make lifestyle changes, including establishing weight loss goals and changing dietary habits. “This grant from WalMart will be a big help in providing materials our patients can take home with them to continue their journey towards better health,” she noted.

The Hospital Foundation exists to raise and manage funds for the sole benefit of the patients served by Canton-Potsdam Hospital. Donations may be sent to the Foundation at 50 Leroy St., Potsdam, or made online at
