Potsdam man charged with disorderly conduct for being in roadway when struck by vehicle


DISORDERLY CONDUCT - POTSDAM - St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies have charged

Christopher L. Deshane, 36, of 645 Sissonvižle Rd., Potsdam, with disorderly conduct following an investigation into a Sept. 17 car-pedestrian accident.

Deputies said Deshane was standing inthe middle of the southbound lane on state Route 56 at approximately 1:30 a.m.Sept. 17 during a heavy downpour when he was struck by a vehicle being operated by Natalie G. Plunkett, 26, of 575 Sissonville Road.

Ms. Plunkett reportedly observed Deshane in the roadway, attempted to avoid him and sideswiped him. Deshane was initially treated for head injuries at Canton-Potsdma Hospital before being transferred to the Vermont Medical Center, Burlington, Vt. He had been listed in critical condition on the day after the accident.

Ms. Plunkett face no charges from the accident.

The disorderly conduct charge alleges Deshane was obstructing traffic by standing in the traffic lane.
