BENCH WARRANT - MASSENA - Village police said Brenden Stevenson, 19, of 78 East Orvis St., Apt. G, Massena, turned himself in on a warrant at 9:28 a.m. Wednesday. The warrant alleged Stevenson had violated the terms of his probationary sentence by failing to report as directed, failing to cooperate with chemical dependency, continuing to smoke marijuana and failing to do his 50 hours of community service. He had completed none of his community service, and probation officials said Stevenson tested positive for marijuana use on Feb. 13 and admitted smoking pot on April 29 and June 19. He also stated to this department he would rather do the jail time than to stop smoking marijuana, according to the probation department memorandum on the alleged probation violation. He was arraigned on the probation violation by Massena Town Justice Gerald P. Sharlow and released under the supervision of the probation department pending his next appearance Oct. 29 in village court.
BENCH WARRANT - MASSENA - Village police picked up John R. Empey Sr., 50, of 2 Richards St., Massena, on a bench warrant issued by St. Lawrence County Drug Court at 10:32 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Lawrence County Probation Office on Harrowgate Commons. He was transported to Canton by the St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department deputies for arraignment on the warrant.
CELL PHONE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Michael A. Strader, 49, of Maple Street, Massena, for using a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle at 12:55 p.m. Wednesday following a traffic stop on Maple Street.
UNINSPECTED MOTOR VEHICLE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Sarah E. Hawkins, 25, of Norfolk for operation of an uninspected motor vehicle at 1:25 p.m. Wednesday following a traffic stop on South Main Street.
