ST. REGIS FALLS - The New York State Department of Transportation has announced the completion of work to rehabilitate the bridge carrying state Route 458 over the St. Regis River in the town of Waverly.
The bridge was closed so that it may be rehabilitated as part of Governor Andrew M. Cuomos NY Works program.
The $800,000 project is part of $33 million in NY Works funding being spent in the north country. This project began in July and included replacement of the bridge deck and approach slabs, guiderail and bridge rail systems, bearings and structural steel repairs.
The NY Works program focuses on improving the condition of bridges in order to extend their service life. This rehabilitation work will better preserve the states infrastructure and guard against the need for more costly construction projects.
