To The Editor:
As the chief prosecutor in the county, the buck stops with the district attorney. This is a position that shouldnt be taken lightly as the criminal justice system depends on a competent, organized, and experienced DA in order that the citizens and victims see justice done. Thats why Im supporting Mary Rain.
Mary started her career as a police officer, then went on to get her law degree; gaining experience in both prosecution and defense in the courtroom. I cant think of a better background for a district attorney to have.
I have faith that Mary Rains background in law enforcement will help the St. Lawrence County District Attorneys Office with public outreach and communication to fight crime in the county. And I know her background in the courtroom and attitude towards criminals will lead to convictions.
I like Marys plan to fast track felons because those criminals deserve swift justice. Not only that, well save local tax dollars by moving felons out of our county jail and into prison expeditiously.
We have a unique opportunity in St. Lawrence County to give someone new a chance as our district attorney. I believe Mary Rains experience and energy will be a great step forward for justice. Thats why I support Mary and hope youll head to the polls and vote for Mary Rain on Nov. 5.
