St. Lawrence County Legislature Actions

CANTON - The St. Lawrence County Legislature took the following actions at its Dec. 2 meeting:

*Authorized chair to sign a contract for ancillary services for the public health department including occupational therapy, physical therapy, special instruction teachers, speech language pathology, speech therapy, nutritional services and audiology therapy.

*Authorized chair to sign a $34,123 contract for the childhood lead poisoning prevention program grant for the public health department.

*Authorized chair to sign a contract for pharmacist services for the public health department upon approval of the county attorney.

*Authorized chair to sign a contract for physician consultant for the public health department TB program, at rate not to exceed $1,000 per year.

*Authorized the chair to sign business associates agreements between the department of public health entities providing preventive services.

*Authorized county to apply for Community Development block grant funds.

*Authorized county to provide grant services to the town of Morristown and the town of Macomb.

*Established elections, real property and community college appportionments for the year 2014.

*Authorized chair to sign agreements for winter maintenance on the county road system for the 2013-14 season.

*Authorized county to accept property acquired by New York state for locally administered federal aid project County Route 47 over West branch of the St. Regis River.

*Authorized county treasurer to charge various items to towns as presented to the Board of Legislators, with the amount totaling $40,304.71

*Adopted mortgage tax report.

*Authorized a contract with the New York State Unified Court System to provide cleaning and minor repair services for court facilities at the county complex for a maximum of five years, from April 1, 2013 through March 31.

*Modified the 2013 sheriff’s office budget to accept a 2013 state criminal alien assistance program funding totaling $7,524 from the Office of Justice programs.

*Authorized the sheriff’s office to fill an entry level corrections officer position that became vacant due to a Nov. 8 termination in the sheriff’s correctional division. The starting salary is $41,175 and the position is in the 2013 budget.

*Supported a plan of the St. Lawrence County Recreational Trails Board to draft an amendment to the vehicle and traffic law to raise the defined weight of an ATV to 1,500 pounds of dry weight to allow certain UTVs to be registered in New York state.

*Supported the plan of the St. Lawrence County Recreational Trails Board to draft an amendment to vehicle and traffic law 2405.

*Set organizational board meeting for 7 p.m. Jan. 2 in the legislative chambers.

*Designated the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce as the county’s tourism promotion agency.

*Reappointed the affirmative action, equal opportunity and American Disabilities Act Officer for St. Lawrence County.

*Appointed Timothy P. LePage as the new director of the St. Lawrence County Probation Department at a salary of $72,929.
