Madrid—Timothy D. Rourke, 60, formerly of Madrid, passed away on Sunday afternoon, November 24, 2013 at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg. Born on December 31, 1952, he was the son of Betty (Brown) Rourke and the late David Rourke of Madrid. Timothy is also survived by his daughter Shannon (David) Ferla of Spring Lake, North Carolina, a sister Priscilla (Paul) Wrobel of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and his brother David (Carol) Rourke of Raymondville, NY, along with nieces Mandy Wrobel, Lindsay (Matt) Meacham, Brittany Rourke and Chelsea Rourke. He was also assisted through his final illness by his good friend Curt Thomas of Ogdensburg. Tim was a graduate of Madrid-Waddington Central School and SUNY Canton, he also attended SUNY Potsdam, where he was a proud member of the Prometheus Service Fraternity, and was involved in many community service projects. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan who loved his daughter, his family, his friends and his many pets. He was a kind and gentle man who excelled at working with people with disabilities. A celebration of Tim’s life will be held at the Phillips Memorial Home in Madrid on Saturday Dec. 7, 2013 with calling hours from 1-3 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home, Madrid with Rev. Helen Beck officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Timothy’s honor may be left to the Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center or the United Helpers, 8101 State Hwy 68, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
