NORWOOD - For the first time, the Norwood Public Library will be including a bake sale with their typical book sale, as part of their book and bake bazaar on Saturday.
The bazaar takes place at the library from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and hundreds of books will be available, as well as many baked goods.
The event is hosted and sponsored by the Friends of the Lbrary, with all proceeds going to help the establishment.
When we chose the date for the book sale, we decided that a bake sale makes sense with it being near the holidays. It is a lot of fun for people in the community, Library Director Cheryl Mirer said. I would say at least a couple of hundred people will show up. We will have a whole bunch of material for all groups - men, women and children, teens, etc. We have a lot of cookbooks, craft books, VHS, and books on tape. Also, I think large print is, at least in Norwood, very desirable media.
Those interested in baking something are asked to drop off their donation between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday or between 7:30 and 9 a.m. Saturday.
Ms. Mirer said she is expecting a large variety of baked goods. She also said that she will be contributing a snack herself.
There will be a lot of baked goods from whole pies to cookies and brownies and cakes. I personally am making Rice Krispie treats with peanut butter and a layer of chocolate on the side, she said.
Saturdays book and bake bazaar precedes the groups next big event, a community party from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 13. There will be live music from Rick Williams and Mark Lyon, as well as artwork by Norwood artist Kristen Rozelle.
The Norwood Public Library is located at 1 Morton St.
