POTSDAM - Potsdam audiologist Jon Suarez, a Parishville resident, wants St. Lawrence County to know that hearing aids can be purchased at a very affordable price or no cost at all, and his office is currently holding an open house that will last until next Wednesday.

Mr. Suarez’ business, State Hearing & Audiology, is marking its one-year anniversary with the open house, which began on Monday.

State Hearing & Audiology is located at the Snell Office Complex, 6604 Route 56 in Potsdam.

Before moving to Parishville, Mr. Suarez worked in Plattsburgh.

“I was the owner of Plattsburgh Hearing and Audiology for seven years. I also worked at SUNY Plattsburgh and ran a hearing aid clinic there,” he said. “Before (working in Plattsburgh) I graduated with my master’s in Audiology in 2004 from the University of Central Missouri. I received my undergraduate degree from SUNY Plattsburgh.”

State Hearing & Audiology opened in November 2012, and Mr. Suarez realizes that it may take a while longer to continue getting his name out there.

“This is our one-year anniversary so we will continue to get our name out in the next few years,” he said. “I think the demographic is quite the same here as it was in Plattsburgh. I like living in Parishville. I cater to the state employees. I am the only full-time participating provider for Empire Plan members who wish to receive hearing aids here in the county.”

The open house is being held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with patients able to go in on Friday by appointment.

Mr. Suarez noted that his business is the only full-time open audiology location in St. Lawrence County that does hearing aid fitting and dispensing.

“I’d like to make the public aware that there is a full-time audiologist location here in the town,” Mr. Suarez said. “We are the only full-time licensed professional dispenser in the area that encourages everyone to trial hearing aids before purchasing them. Many are not aware that they can get hearing aids for little to no money out of their pockets.”
