GOUVERNEUR — A Dec. 5 traffic stop by U.S. Border Patrol agents in Gouverneur led to the seizure of more than 10 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of two north country men.

State police responded to the Ogdensburg Port of Entry after Border Patrol Agents took Devin J. Riley, 18, of 24 Cline Drive, Massena, and Carlos A. Rodriguez Jr., 22, of 367 Cook Road, Hogansburg, into custody.

Agents allegedly stopped a vehicle, driven by Mr. Rodriguez, on Route 11 for a traffic stop when agents allegedly found 13 pounds of marijuana stored in a suitcase that was in the vehicle

The two men were turned over to state police who charged the men with felony first-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

Mr. Rodriguez was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, as his license was found to be suspended.

Both men were immediately arraigned at Gouverneur Town Court and taken to St. Lawrence County jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. They were released under probation supervision on Dec. 10 by Gouverneur Town Judge Stanley H. Young Jr.
