BURGLARY - BRUSHTON - A Franklin County man was jailed on drug and burglary charges Tuesday stemming from an investigation into burglaries reported in October and November.
Shawnessy T. Newvine, 26, of Brushton was charges with two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana - more than two ounces and criminal use of drug paraphernalia after responding to a possession of stolen property complaint at noon Tuesday. The arrest was made at 382 South Woods Road in the town of Moira. He was also charged with second-degree burglary stemming from an investigation launched into a larceny complaint on Oct. 20 from the town of Moira and third-degree burglary from an investigation into a larceny complaint filed with troopers on Nov. 22 from the town of Malone. He was arraigned in local court and sent to the Franklin County Jail.
UNLAWFUL POSSESSION - MASSENA - Massena-based state police charged Carcie T. Thompson-Bigtree, 17, of Hogansburg with unlawful possession of marijuana at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday at the U.S. port of entry in Rooseveltown. Troopers said Thompson-Bigtree was turned over to state police after she was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers following a secondary inspection at the port of entry.
PETIT LARCENY - BOMBAY - Malone-based state police charged Francine A. Thompson-Dustin, 31, of St. Regis, Que., with petit larceny early Wednesday morning after investigating a larceny from building complaint filed with troopers at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday from the town of Bombay.
