MASSENA - The Grinch will be making an appearance Saturday in Massena, but it will not be to steal any presents or ruin any Christmas spirit.

The Massena Public Library will be holding a “Breakfast with the Grinch” fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Massena Elks Club, 20 Bowers St.

“The Elks have been very generous and we’re very, very happy with the donations we’re getting as well,” Library Director Elaine Dunne-Thayer said. “We’ve received a check from SeaComm for $100 among others just for this specific event. We have a very, very nice gift basket from Seasons (Specialty Gifts) that we will use as part of our raffle. ... It will really be a great event for both kids and adults and I think it will be a great event. Walgreens is going to have a photographer there.”

This will be the first “Breakfast with the Grinch” for the library, but Ms. Dunne-Thayer is optimistic for a great success.

“I’m hoping for our first time out, I’m really hoping that this will be a successful money-raising event for the library and we can make it an annual event,” she said.

The event will include Dr. Seuss activities, photos with the Grinch and a meal including green eggs and ham. There will also be a silent auction and raffles of Dr. Seuss items.

All proceeds will fund the programs and collections of the Massena Public Library.

Admission is $5 for kids up to 12 years of age, $7 for adults and $20 for a family.
