Canton Central girls skate past Saranac Lake

SARANAC LAKE - A pair of quick scoring bursts helped boost the Canton Central girls hockey team to a 6-2 non-league win on the road over Saranac Lake on Thursday.

The Lady Bears (5-3) built a 2-0 lead when Mckaylee Boak and Lizzy Christy scored 40 seconds apart in the sixth minute of the game. The went ahead 4-0 when Elizabeth Collins and Serena Cline connected just 28 seconds apart three minutes into the second period.

Collins and Boak fionished with two goals apiece. Natalie Giglio, Mary Kait Mace, Blake Orosz and Paige Glasgow all drew solo assists while Elizabeth Burke handled 11 of the shots she faced backstopping the win.

Jillian Martin and Morgan Farmer broke through for the Saranac Lake goals while Lindsay Reeve made 33 saves in the losing cause.

The Lady Bears return to action on Monday when they head to Pine Street Arena to take on Section 10 rival Potsdam Central starting at 10 a.m.
