MASSENA - The temperature was -12 degrees at 9 a.m. in Massena, and The Weather Channel is reporting the feel like temperature is -33 when the wind chill is added.

Temperatures are not expected to reach 0 degrees today, and the feel like temperature is expected to dip to -34 degrees by the noon hour.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory for the St. Lawrence Valley that remains in effect until 11 a.m. Friday, with wind chill readings remaining in the -2o to - 30 degree range as sub zero temperatures are chilled by northeast winds in the 10 to 15 mph range with gusts up to 25 mph.

But the good news is that the half foot to foot of snow that is predicted to fall in much of the state over the next couple of days is expected to to miss St. Lawrence and Franklin counties.

By comparison, it is 0 degrees in Fairbanks, Alaska, 36 in Calgary and 25 in Edmonton.

And for those in the misery loves company gang it is already 79 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and the high is forecast to be 81 in Los Angeles and 76 in Phoenix, Ariz., today.
