Harriet I. Sharlow (nee Sterling) passed away on December 30, 2013 at the age of 97 in Berea, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters, three brothers, three nephews, one niece and one cousin.
Harriet spent the last two and a half years residing in Berea, Ohio with her youngest daughter. She was born July 29, 1916 to John and Mary (Agnes) Sterling in Snye, Quebec, Canada on the St. Lawrence River. She was the beloved wife of the late H. Kenneth Sharlow of 55 years and loving mother of three daughters: Mary Burch of Hannawa Falls, NY, Susan (Tim) Morgan of Wappingers Falls, NY, and Jane (David) Wood of Berea, OH. Cherished grandmother of seven grandchildren: Carrie Rush of Wappingers Falls, NY, Williams K. Burch of Plattsburg, NY, Brandy (Nick) Cunningham of Fort Smith, AR, Melissa Fink of Sumter, SC, David Michael Rush of Sumter, SC, Kate Wood of Hoboken, NJ, and Kristine Wood of Cincinnati, OH. Loving great grandmother of two: William Lewis Rush of Sumter, SC and Bryson Fink of Sumter, SC. Dearest aunt, cousin and friend to many: cousin Mabel Thomas of Massena, NY, nephew Donald Duarte of Augusta, GA, niece June LaDue, Massena, NY, and best friend of the family and fourth daughter Barbara Briggs of Howell, NJ. Harriet lived her life for her family and dedicated all she had to loving and supporting her three daughters and their families. She and her late husband Kenny had a love for traveling and the outdoors, actively swimming, camping, hunting, fishing, ice skating and skiing. Both were avid hockey fans of the Montreal Canadiens. Harriet always had the will to live, a tribute to the strength and character of the woman she was. She will forever remain in our hearts and our lives. Family will receive friends and celebrate the life of Harriet at Phillips Memorial Home at 64 Andrews Street, Massena, NY, 13662 on Friday, January 3, 2014.
