Harrisville tunes up for west


WATERTOWN - Gearing up for a return to NAC West play where they stand at 4-0, Harrisville Central downed Thousand Islands Central 62-55 in a nonleague boys basketball game at Jefferson Community College on Saturday. “They are a quality team so it was a nice win to get ready for our league games. We play Heuvelton at our place and face Lisbon on Thursday at SUNY Canton where we could both be undefeated in the league,” said Harrisville Coach BrianColoney. “Our interior passing was good today, we hit some shots and we made our free throws at 17-22.”

The Pirates (5-2) also put together state-of-the-art balance in their scoring. Nate Weaver led the way wit 21 points followedc by Tim Fowler and Brendan Best with 14 and Zane Mono with 11.

Ethan Baldwin’s 19 points led TI.
