HAMMOND — Icy conditions caused a pickup truck to roll over just outside the village Tuesday morning.

State police ticketed Nathan A. Lukert, 24, of Barre, Mass., for failing to reduce speed for a special hazard.

The accident happened at 9:38 a.m.

Unsafe speed combined with snow-covered roads caused the vehicle to overturn, state police said.

State police said Mr. Lukert was traveling south on Route 37 when he lost control of the truck and rolled over before landing upright in a field.

He was transported to Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, for lower back pain, state police said.

Maple City Auto, Ogdensburg, towed the car from the field shortly before 11 a.m.
