MASSENA: Barbara W. Westcott, 85 formally of Marie St. and Elizabeth Ave. passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2013 at the St. Regis Nursing Home. A Memorial Service will take place in the spring at Emmanuel Congregational Church with burial to follow in Bayside Cemetery, Potsdam. Barb was born on November 2, 1928 in Massena the daughter of Leon M. and Marion (Dignean) Ward. After graduation in 1946 from Massena High School she married Arthur J. Westcott on August 6, 1950 at the First Methodist Church with Rev. William O. Thomas presiding. Barb worked at Becker’s Modern Style Shop, Alcoa for three and half years, and she retired from Emmanuel Congregational Church in Massena as a secretary. She bowled mixed doubles from 34 years, was on the bridge girls group for 58 years. She was active with AFS, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, various church groups and choir. Barb is survived by five children, A. Jeffrey (Kimberly) Cooperhill, TN; Judy (Daniel) Fregoe ofRotterdam, NY; Eric (Joan) Westcott of Massena; Toby A. Westcott of North Lauderdale, FL; Bonnie (Richard) Dick of Falkirk, Scotland; a brother, Rev. Gary (Jeannie) Ward of Parker, AZ; two AFS sons, Albert Weber of Mexico, Sigmund Graf of Switzerland; 11 grandchildren, three AFS grandchildren, a niece Desiree Ward of Massena, a nephew Garrett Ward of Phoenix, AZ and three grand nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Brian Kieth Ward in 1937. Memorial contributions may be made in Barb’s memory to Raquette Valley Habitat for Humanity P.O. Box 295, Canton, NY 13617.
