MADRID - The Madrid-Waddington varsity girls basketball team relayed a 32-8 halftime lead into a 48-27 NAC East Division win at home over Brushton-Moira on Friday.
Tess Knight tallied 15 points while doing a masterful job directing the offense for M-W.
We had a great first half. We executed our defense very well and we shared the ball extrmely well. Tess Knight just did an outstanding job leading the flow of the offense, said M-W Coach Gary Tisher.
Jenny King supplied a stellar night inside for M-W delivering six points, 10 rebounds and four assists and Kayleigh Fields netted seven points with three steals. Dez Pryce scored six points and Olivia Parmeter tallied five points with three steals.
Arielle Geary and Kirsten Barrett tallied 14 and eight points leading B-M (5-1 NAC East).
In the other East Division girls basketball games on Friday, Chateaugay downed Norwood-Norfolk 73-26 and Colton-Pierrepont outscored St. Regis Falls 52-39.
Chateaugay 73, N-N 26: Katie Beach tossed through 18 points as the Lady Bulldogs ran out to a commanding 23-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. Hannah Cook added 12 points followed by Danielle Charland.
Cadence Hunkins paced the Lady Flyers with 14 points. Kim Stewart added four. Miranda Langtry, Ayanna Mason and Desiree Palmer chipped in two pointsapiece while Megan Seguin and Hannah Seguin each netted a free throw.
C-P 52, SRF 39: At St. Regis Falls, Morgan Doyle fired through 27 points as the Lady Colts pulled away from a 23-21 halftime lead for the win. Andrea Aldous added nine points followed by Eve Whalen with seven, Courtney Marsh with six, Katie Johnson with two and Kelsi Gilbert with one.
Jenna Susice and Brianna Work paced SRF with 14 and 13 points, respectively. Madison Greenwood tossed in a pair of 3-pointers for her six points.
EAST BOYS GAME
The lone NAC East Division boys basketball game on Friday saw Chateaugay down Norwood-Norfolk 62-27.
Devan Guyette netted 10 points in the losing effort followed by Kyle Steenberg with seven and Dustin Fisher with four. Ryan Fullerton, Ian St. Andrews and Travis Gay each finished with two.
Jordan Martin pace a well-balanced Chateaugay offense with 12 points, as Zach Cowan and Seth Young both finished with nine points. Young paced the hot-shooting Bulldogs from the outside, making three 3-pointers as the team tossed in nine shots from beyond the arc Tyler Jones (8 rebounds) and Owen Henderson added six points apiece to the win.
