A Mass of Christian burial for 87 year old Mrs. Theresa M. Slater a resident of United Helpers Maplewood Campus in Canton and formerly of Parishville will be held Tuesday, January 14. 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church in Potsdam with Msgr. Robert Aucoin officiating.
Friends may call at the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam on Monday afternoon and evening from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A spring burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery in Potsdam. Mrs.Theresa Slater died January 10th, 2014 at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
Survivors include 4 daughters: Mrs. Mary Taylor-Allen of Saranac Lake, NY, Mrs. Robert (Ann) Vuotto of Lexington, KY, Mrs. Guy (Beth) Rosenbarker of Parishville, Mrs. William (Lorraine) Mihill of Keene, NY; 4 sons and daughters in law Mr. Robert and Bernice Taylor of Potsdam, Mr. Gerald and Linda Taylor of Alexandria Bay, NY, Mr. David and Colleen Taylor of Potsdam, Mr. William and Pamela Taylor of Potsdam. Two step-sons Mr. Roderick Slater of Santa Rosa, CA, Mr. John Slater, Jr .of Saranac Lake, 26 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces, and several step-grandchildren. Theresa was pre-deceased by her two husbands, along with one brother Guy Lashomb and two half brothers Kenneth Lashomb and Leon Lashomb. Theresa was also pre-deceased by one sister Marguerite Ashley, and one half Sister Pauline Donahue.
Theresa was born in Massena, NY on June 20, 1926 the daughter of Hubert and Elizabeth (Burcume) Lashomb. She married Bernard Taylor June 26, 1944 in St. Marys Church in Potsdam. He died in July of 1966. She later married Cason Slater in St. Michaels Church in Wilmington, NY. He died July of 1991.
Theresa was a member of the Parishville Hilltoppers Senior Citizens Club and the Wilmington Pals Senior Citizens club. She resided in Wilmington, NY from 1974 to 1996. During her working career she was a sales clerk for Roberts Shoe Store in Potsdam for many years, and also employed later at Endicott Johnson Shoes in Potsdam.
