CANTON - A librarian at Canton Central School District has been hired to serve as school library system director and supervisor of learning resources for St. Lawrence-Lewis Board of Cooperative Educational Services.

Kelly L. Wilson is scheduled to start her new job Feb. 3. The 12-month position pays $72,000 a year and the appointment was approved by the BOCES board at its Dec. 19 meeting. Most of the salary is funded through a state grant.

She will replace Marcia Eggleston, who is retiring.

Canton Central is seeking a replacement for Ms. Wilson, whose resignation from Canton takes effect Jan. 31.

In her new role, Ms. Wilson will supervise two audio-visual aides, two electronics technicians, an information services librarian, a library clerk, a motor vehicle operator, a secretary and a senior account clerk.

Her job duties as library systems director include running all aspects of the school library system including resource sharing, database development, staff development, communication with component schools and other systems. She is also responsible for overseeing all aspects of learning resources including hard copy and digital media library.

She will report to Stephen A. Todd, BOCES assistant superintendent for instruction.
